About the piece: 

This painting was inspired by anxiety and the quiet weight it can place on the heart and mind.

Anxiety can feel overwhelming, even when everything around you seems still. It can live in the thoughts that repeat themselves, in the uncertainty of what may happen, and in the invisible heaviness we sometimes carry without knowing how to explain it.

I chose a hummingbird for this piece because of the way its wings move so quickly, almost as if they are never fully still. That constant movement reminded me of anxiety: the racing thoughts, the alert heart, and the quiet struggle of trying to find calm when everything inside feels unsettled.

At the same time, hummingbirds are delicate, beautiful, and incredibly resilient. They carry so much energy in such a small body, which felt meaningful to me. In a similar way, anxiety can make us feel fragile, but it also reminds us of how much we are carrying, how deeply we feel, and how strong we are for continuing to move forward.

With this painting, I wanted to capture anxiety in a gentle and beautiful way. This piece is a reminder to be soft with yourself. Some days may feel heavier than others, but even in the middle of fear and uncertainty, there is still space for calm, tenderness, and slowly finding your way back to yourself.
