About the piece: 

This painting was inspired by anxiety and the way it can quietly take over your thoughts.

I chose a hummingbird because its constant movement reminded me of anxiety. Its wings move so quickly, almost without stopping, and that made me think of a mind that is always active, jumping from one thought to another, trying to settle but never quite getting there.

I also liked the contrast of using something so delicate and beautiful to represent such a heavy feeling. Hummingbirds are small, but they carry so much energy and are incredibly resilient. To me, that felt similar to how we can feel fragile and overwhelmed while still carrying so much and continuing to move forward.

With this piece, I wanted to capture anxiety in a gentle and beautiful way. A reminder to be soft with yourself, especially on the days that feel a little heavier.
